Christy Leung is a graduate of Diocesan Girls’ School as well as the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (Junior Music Programme) where she studied under the tutelage of Barbara Sze.
As a soloist, Christy was awarded Second Prizes at the Petar Konjovic International Harp Competition (Serbia, 2013) and the Young Artists’ Harp Competition (USA, 2014). In 2015, Christy was named First Prize Winner of the American Protégé International Concerto Competition and was awarded Second Prize in the South China Morning Post Student of the Year Award 2014-2015 (Performing Artists Category). Subsequently, she performed at the HKAPA Junior Music 30th Anniversary Showcase Concert (2014), “Rising Stars of Asia” Concert of the Second Korean Harp Festival (2014), Hong Kong Harp Festival (2014) and Singapore Harp Festival (2015). In 2015, Christy was awarded a scholarship to study at the Académie Internationale d'Eté de Nice to study with Sivan Magen in France. She holds Licentiate Diplomas in harp and piano from Trinity College London (LTCL).
At school, Christy was the harpist of the School Symphony Orchestra, and won the DGS Concerto Competition in 2015. Externally, she was the harpist of the HKAPA Junior Symphony Orchestra as well as Hong Kong Children’s Symphony Orchestra, with which she performed the Handel and Mozart harp concertos. Her solo and orchestral appearances have led her to Carnegie Hall (USA), Seoul Arts Centre (South Korea) and Angel Place, City Recital Hall (Australia).
Since 2020, Christy has been uploading videos of all genre — classical music and harp covers on pop music on YouTube, and will continue to share her music to a wider audience.
Returning to the competitive harp scene, Christy was awarded 3rd Prize in PoppyHarp International Competition (UK), as well as 1st Prizes in the "Citta di Massa" and Midwest Harp competitions.
